AIRLINERS AT LAX

Los Angeles International Airport 1956-1976, album of colour photographs with introduction and descriptive captions, photo index, 120 pp, blue boards in d/w, a few small dents to edges of boards, top corners a little bumped, otherwise in very good condition, World Transport Press (Miami, Florida) 1997

22.8 x 26.2 cm, 780g, ISBN 0 96267 306 4

The author was a British aeronautical design engineer, who started taking photographs at Croydon Airport in 1946.  He worked for Napier on the Naiad turboprop and on the notorious Nomad diesel compound engine, before emigrating to Canada to work for Canadair in 1954.  He moved to California to work for Northrop in 1956, and later for Douglas and Lockheed.  He retired, after 49 years in the aviation industry, in 1991.

The aircraft photographed range from DC-3s and Constellations right through to 747s and Tristars – all apparently photographed from airside.

Long out of print.
