The first edition was issued in 1992 by the Penguin Group under the title ‘Home Comfort’, but at that time a number of National Trust properties were in the process of restoration, and in 1997 the Trust took over the publication of the book and re-issued it with many new photographs. 

The book is now out of print and, in view of its size and lavish production standards, is very unlikely ever to be reprinted.
