See below the description from the dustwrapper flap. This is a good facsimile reprint of the original 1897 edition, and should not be confused with the numerous modern American paperback reprints, some of which are almost unreadable.

Although the books themselves are published by Greenwood Press, the dustwrappers bear the name Constable, and there is a statement on the verso of the title page that the book is reprinted with the permission of Constable. It would appear that Constable marketed the book in this country.

In Volume II, four of the gatherings appear to have been printed on a different quality of paper, as the closed edges have browned considerably more than those of the remaining gatherings. Those pages also have some marginal spotting, whereas the remaining gatherings have practically none.
