FIRST CLASS CRICKET - A COMPLETE RECORD 1939

Researched by The Association of Cricket Statisticians, illustrations from b&w photographs, index of match scorecards, 255 pp, green boards in d/w, very very slight crinkling (from damp?) to edge of last few pages, small tear to d/w at top of spine, otherwise very good, Breedon Books (Derby) 1991

23 x 22.5 cm, 1010g, ISBN 0 90796 972 0

A short introduction (pages 8-17), then a succession of scorecards, with comments (e.g. “K. Farnes performed a hat-trick in Notts’ 2nd innings, dismissing G.F.H. Hearne, J. Hardstaff and G.V. Gunn in a spell of four wickets for six runs in two overs.  It was his maiden hat-trick and was to be the only one of his career.”)

One does wonder whether the Association of Cricket Statisticians (founded 1973) welcomed or deplored the introduction of the computer.
