A history of the ship, an account of its sinking, and a great deal of information on how she was located on the sea-bed (the author was one of the diving team, as well as a military historian) and explored.

Once the ship had been positively identified, the author travelled to Sweden, where the “Vasa” had been raised in the 1960s, to start the campaign to have the “Mary Rose” raised to the surface – which eventually happened in 1982.
