THE CANTERBURY TALES - An Illustrated Edition

Translated into Modern English by Nevill Coghill, numerous illustrations (most in colour from illuminated manuscripts, a few from b&w engravings – see specimen page below), introduction by John Wain, list of sources of illustrations, 288 pp, decorated red cloth in d/w, d/w a trifle rubbed and creased at top edge of rear cover, spine of d/w faded, otherwise in very good condition, Century Hutchinson for Guild Publishing 1986

26.7 x 19.1 cm, 1290g, no ISBN

Takes the entire text of Coghill’s famous translation for Penguin Books, and prints it on high-quality paper with contemporary illustrations.  The book is then properly bound in a sewn binding into a decorated cloth (not paper) case.  Now out of print and, one would have thought, very unlikely ever to be reprinted in this form.

You can buy the plain text, without illustrations, in a Penguin paperback for £8.99 if you really want to.
