Moore died at the Battle of Corunna in 1809.  He is known to generations of schoolboys through the poem by the Rev. Charles Wolfe, which appeared anonymously in the Newry Telegraph in 1817, and was discovered by Byron five years later.  However, little was recorded about Moore's life until this biography appeared.
