THE OPERAS OF BENJAMIN BRITTEN

The Complete Librettos Illustrated with Designs of the First Productions, very numerous illustrations (many in colour) from photographs, costume designs, sketches and paintings, bibliography, index, xxxii & 284 pp, light blue cloth in d/w, front d/w flap a little browned, small (1 cm) brown mark on bottom edge of front endpaper (see picture below), extending to the next 44 pages and becoming progressively fainter (but no corresponding mark to book cover or d/w), small brown mark to bottom edge of two b&w plates, slight scratches to rear bottom edge of d/w, otherwise in very good condition, Hamish Hamilton 1979

27.8 x 19.2 cm, 1730g, ISBN 0 24110 256 1

See below the description from the dustwrapper flap.

The marks to the bottom edge, and the scratches to the dustwrapper, lead me to believe that this copy may have been sent out by the publisher as a review copy, as copies slightly damaged in the binding process or at the warehouse were often used for this purpose.

Included loose is a copy of the Daily Telegraph obituary (dated 9 April 2007) of Colin Graham, who staged most of Britten’s operas, and who was one of the contributors to this book.

Long out of print.
