Although the list of illustrations at the front of the book shows the colour plates facing various pages throughout the book, in fact the ten colour plates are now all bound in one section between pages 32 and 33. We suspect the list of illustrations was carried over from an earlier edition of the book.

As sometimes happens, in the finishing process the binder’s guillotine has missed the top of the final gathering, and these pages were still connected at the top edge. A previous owner has separated them a little roughly, leaving slightly ragged edges. However, the text is not affected.
