WHERE FOUR WORLDS MEET

Hindu Kush 1959, Translated from the Italian by Peter Green, numerous illustrations from photographs (mostly b&w, a few in colour), endpaper maps and maps in text (some folding), short bibliography & index, xii & 290 pp, brown boards in d/w, spine of d/w darkened and spotted, some foxing to first few pages, otherwise in good condition, Readers Union/Hamish Hamilton 1965

23.5 x 16 cm, 1020g, no ISBN

See below an extract from Eric Newby’s review in “The Observer”.

Issued in the days when the Readers Union edition was frequently indistinguishable from the publisher’s edition, except for the name on the title page and the dustwrapper.  In this case the price of the publisher’s edition is quoted as 42s, and the RU edition as 35s, so this was not a cheap knocked-out edition.
